Costas Menegakis was first elected to the House of Commons in 2011 as Member of Parliament for Richmond Hill. In September 2013 he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Citizenship & Immigration. In the 41st Parliament Mr. Menegakis served as a member of the House of Commons Standing Committees for Citizenship and Immigration, Procedures and House Affairs, Official Languages and Government Operations and Estimates.
A businessman and entrepreneur, Costas Menegakis is a business graduate from Concordia University’s Faculty of Commerce. Prior to entering politics Mr. Menegakis had a successful career in upper management at the corporate level before founding a prosperous marketing company in 1988 providing logistics services to national and international corporations.
Mr. Menegakis firmly believes in building strong communities and has served in various volunteer capacities for several non-profit charitable organizations for over 20 years. He is an ardent supporter of programs that offer services to families particularly to our youth and elderly and to those with special needs. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Accessible Channel, the Metropolitan Toronto Police Chief’s Community Advisory Council, the Empire Club of Canada and various Canadian Hellenic organizations among others.
An active member of the community, Mr. Menegakis is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Rotary Club of York, the Lions Club of Oak Ridges and Aurora and Richmond Hill Chambers of Commerce. Costas is an avid photographer, enjoys music and sports, and is a long-time supporter of youth amateur sports.
Mr. Menegakis has been awarded Her Majesty’s Queen Elizabeth II Gold and Diamond Jubilee medals bestowed to Canadians for their outstanding community service and volunteerism.
Costas speaks three languages (English, French and Greek). He is married to Gail and they have two children. The Menegakis family lives in Oak Ridges, Ontario.
